Meet Pat Mitchell's Super Dooper Kids Books Team

AYDEN KATE PLUMLEE

Super Dooper Illustrator

"Ayden Kate, as an artist, has a magical way of bringing every single chapter, every single page and every single character to life!"

Pat Mitchell counts it a blessing being friends with Marsha and Ayden Kate Plumlee since 2014.

It all when Ayden Kate was only nine-years-old and her parents Paul and Marsha gave her the puppy she had dreamed having. Ellee is her name and together, they joined Pat and Dooper at Super Dooper Dog Training.

Cute little Ayden Kate would come into class with a gift, her very own color-pencil drawings of their class times together. Pat always loved hanging these gifts on the training studio walls. (You can see one of her drawings in these photos).

Sweet Ayden Kate, when Dooper passed away in 2020, she gifted Pat the most amazing drawing of Dooper. It brought tears to Pat's eyes, it was such a sincere and kind gift.

When Pat started imagining her dream of Super Dooper Kids Books, she immediately knew, without a doubt, she has to ask Marsha and Ayden Kate if she would be the books' illustrator. Thankfully, they happily said, "Yes!"

Ayden Kate and Pat love going and speaking with kids about making dreams come true and hopefully igniting a spark of imagination and a love for reading during their visits. They hope the kids see, dreams really can come true and anything is possible!

Now, a student at the University of Georgia, thankfully, Ayden Kate still follows her love for art whilst she competes her studies in environmental sciences.

MICKEY GOODMAN

Super Dooper Editor

When Pat started planning her dream of Super Dooper Kids Books series, she reached out to advice from a mentor of hers and a very cool guy, a brilliant and well knows businessman, Jim Rhoden, who had just recently published an adorable story book for his grand-kids. Thank heavens, Pat listened to Jim when he told her she has to get Mickey Goodman as her collaborator and editor.

"Mickey Goodman has been a God Send," Pat says. "She's funny and witty and knows how to tweak and shape my words and story-lines in ways which helps our young readers enjoy my tales. She is a hoot too! We've become such good buddies."

Mickey is an Award-Winning Journalist who has won First Place, twice, in the National Association of Press Women and twice won First Place Alabama Media Professionals and Third Place in the Magazine Association of the Southeast. And Pat votes her number one as a Super Dooper editor!

You can find Mickey's work in more than 700 bylined articles for scores of publications including Reuters International, People, This Old House, Veranda, Southern Living, Womansday.com, Countryliving.com, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Atlanta Magazine, CURE (American Cancer Society), PEDS (Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta), The Parkinson Report, and others. She is a columnist for Simply Buckhead, an upscale Atlanta magazine.

Pat joyfully proclaims, "Though she's a journalist by profession; Mickey is really really Super Dooper  Children's Book editor and collaborator too!"

Pat goes on to say that Mickey's gift as a collaborator is she immediately captures the essence of her writings, tweaking her ideas and making her sentences and the scenes in her books smoothly glide together.

Pat feels Super Dooper Kids Books books are a big success thanks to Mickey as a teammate.

DANA PATTERSON

Super Dooper Teacher

It was Dooper and therapy visits at Oakwood Elementary which first brought Dana Patterson into Pat's life. Dana believes so strongly to the power and magic of therapy dogs coming into her school and her classrooms and Pat loves and admires this in her so very much.

As Pat was writing her third book, Meryl the Magnificent, she realized it would help her if she had a teacher's input and a teacher's perspective to make sure she was writing a story that kids would love to read. So she asked Dana if she would jump on the team and be Pat's advising teacher. Thankfully, Dana said, "SURE!" And, this was the best Super Dooper news ever.

"Dana brings such a fresh and vital perspective to my story. Dana made it loads more fun! She tweaks and suggest ideas and scene she knows the kids would love to read." Pat adds, "She creates page-turning curiosity in the kids. They can't wait to know what happens next."

It ends ups, helping Pat has a very personal side for Dana because  her deceased Dad always loved to write and she admits she's a grammar-nerd just like her dad. She senses he is smiling up in Heaven knowing that she's helping write books that raise money for charities.

Dana's passion for her students and lighting a spark for learning in kids is inspiration to Pat and obviously her school and her county as  was recently chosen as her school's candidate for Teacher of the Year!

Pat loves every chance she get to watch Dana and her fellow teacher, Gina, in action, in her classrooms with their students. Pat says, "Dana has this joy that carries over into her students. She urges them to dream, have ambition and yearn for accomplishment."

As a busy mom to two amazing teenagers and a dog mom to Millie, Pat can't believe that Dana finds time to always be ready to help make Super Dooper Kids Books the best that they can be.
