Meet The Super Dooper Kids Books Team

MICKEY GOODMAN

Super Dooper Editor

As an editor and friend, Mickey Goodman has been a part of every thought, every word, every page, and every book. Pat says, “Mickey sees my stories as I see them. She helps me choose the perfect words to make my stories better and make each book super dooper!”

When she was six years old, Mickey wrote her first book about her favorite doll, Plassie, who had chicken pox at the same time she did. It was so much fun that she decided to become an “arthur” when she grew up. Her wish came true after college when she began writing for newspapers and magazines. But one of her favorite things to do is to help people write about their lives and businesses, and edit children’s books with Pat Mitchell, whose stories about animals charm kids and adults alike.

Mickey grew up with a black cocker spaniel named Jet, whose long ears looked like airplane wings when she ran like the wind. She also loves cats and still misses her big, fluffy, long-haired calico, CiSi, who crossed over the Rainbow Bridge when CiSi was nineteen years old.

Mickey lives in Atlanta and has three adult children and five fully grown grandkids who love to read as much as she does. To date, Mickey has written more than seven hundred articles and “arthured” eight books.

CLAIRE DUNAWAY CYR

Super Dooper Illustrator

A longtime friend of Pat Mitchell’s is Claire Dunaway Cyr, a fabulous art teacher and gallery artist. When Pat called Claire and told her about needing an illustrator for her newest book, Claire immediately jumped up and shouted, “Yes! Count me in!”

Claire says about her being an artist, “I always loved drawing and doodling since I was little! I knew that I wanted to do something with art—even when I grew up. My fifth-grade yearbook ‘Future Me’ page said ARTIST! I kept drawing and doodling, I kept sketchbooks. I kept learning, discovering, and practicing! “And now? I get the best of all worlds! I get to teach art to children, make my own art, and I get to help bring Micro to life so he can inspire even small, precious ones in BIG ways!”

Claire was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia. She’s lived in South Carolina, London, England, and Park City, Utah, before returning to Georgia. She has a wonderful husband, two rescue dogs, two kids of her own, and 750 kids coming through her art classroom every week!

DANA PATTERSON

Super Dooper Teacher/ProofReader

It was Dooper and therapy visits at Oakwood Elementary which first brought Dana Patterson into Pat's life. Dana believes so strongly to the power and magic of therapy dogs coming into her school and classrooms. Pat loves and admires this in her so very much.

As Pat was writing her third book, Meryl the Magnificent, she realized it would help her if she had a teacher's input and a teacher's perspective to make sure she was writing a story that kids would love to read. So she asked Dana if she would jump on the team and be Pat's advising teacher. Thankfully, Dana said, "SURE!" And, this was the best Super Dooper news ever.

"Dana brings such a fresh and vital perspective to my story. Dana made it loads more fun! She tweaked and suggested ideas and scenes she knows the kids would love to read." Pat adds, "She created page-turning curiosity in the kids. They can't wait to know what happens next."

It ends up, helping Pat has a very personal side for Dana because her deceased dad always loved to write. She admits she's a grammar-nerd just like her dad. She senses he is smiling up in Heaven knowing that she's helping write books that raise money for charities.

Dana's passion for her students, and lighting a spark for learning in kids, is an inspiration to Pat. And obviously to her school and her county as Dana was recently chosen as her school's candidate for Teacher of the Year!

Pat loves every chance she gets to watch Dana and her fellow teacher, Gina, in action, in her classrooms with their students. Pat says, "Dana has this joy that carries over into her students. She urges them to dream, have ambition and yearn for accomplishment."

As a busy mom to two amazing teenagers and a dog mom to Millie, Pat can't believe that Dana finds time to always be ready to help make Super Dooper Kids Books the best that they can be.

AYDEN KATE PLUMLEE

Super Dooper Illustrator

"Ayden Kate, as an artist, has a magical way of bringing every single chapter, every single page and every single character to life!"

Pat feels super dooper lucky to work with two dear friends who are also gifted artists, Ayden Kate Plumlee and Claire Dunaway Cyr. Both women bring the characters and the scenes to life in all her tales.

Ayden Kate Plumlee was the wonderful artist of the first three books in the series. She was only fifteen-years-old when she illustrated the first book, Frannie and the Skunk Who Couldn’t Skunk. Next came Leo the Part-Time Cat, and then her final book, Meryl the Magnificent. As an almost twenty-year-old now, though she really wanted to, Ayden Kate’s life as a student at the University of Georgia has not allowed her to illustrate this fourth book.

Pat is thankful to have worked with Ayden Kate, her mom Marsha, and their pooch-Ellee on all three books. Ellee, was one of Pat and Dooper’s students and the reason they all became super dooper friends. le!

BOOKLOGIX

Pat plans to produce all four of her books with Booklogix as her publishing house.

"Booklogix helps me create my books in our country, the great USA." Pat adds, "Sadly, so many self-published books are produced in China. I really wanted to keep my money in my own backyard. Booklogix makes this happen for me."

And, Pat can attest that Booklogix has a great staff to help with design and production at the top quality level Pat wants her books to be.
